Divine Favour 2

By Pastor Juliana T Akinbami

# 4: Favour Through Obedience and Righteousness

  • Ephesians 2:8–10 – “Thank You, Lord, for positioning me for supernatural favour through the free gift of salvation.”
  • Daniel 1:8–9 – “Father, grant me the grace for increased faith and obedience so that I may experience Your favour in this season and beyond. Let me not be swayed by temptations or distractions.”
  • Genesis 17:1 – “Father, grant me the favour to walk blamelessly before You, just as You commanded Abraham.”

Some examples of Favour Through Obedience and Righteousness in the book of Matthew

Favour Through Obedience and Righteousness

  • Matthew 7:21 – “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.”
    • God’s favour is granted to those who live in obedience to His will. It is not just lip service that attracts favour, but righteous living and obedience that results in entering the kingdom of heaven.

Prayer for Divine Favour

Heavenly Father, I come before You in humility, seeking Your divine favour through a life of obedience and righteousness. Your Word in Matthew 7:21 teaches us that it is not merely those who call on Your name who will enter the kingdom of heaven, but those who do Your will.

Lord, grant me the strength and wisdom to live according to Your righteous commands. Let my actions reflect Your will, and my life be a testament to Your glory. Help me to walk in Your ways, always aligning my heart and mind with Your divine purpose.

I take authority in the name of Jesus over any obstacles, temptations, or influences that may try to divert me from Your path. I rebuke any spirit of disobedience or unrighteousness that seeks to hinder my walk with You.

Pour out Your favour upon my life as I strive to live in obedience. May Your blessings flow abundantly, and may I be a beacon of Your love and righteousness in this world.
Thank you, Father, for Your grace and favour. I trust in Your guiding hand and believe in the promise of eternal life through obedience to Your Word.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

  • Matthew 7:24 – “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
    • Divine favour comes through not only hearing God’s Word but also through obedience and applying it to our lives. Those who obey will experience God’s protection and favour.

Prayer for Divine Favour Through Obedience

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word that guides and sustains me. As You have said in Matthew 7:24, those who hear Your Word and put them into practice are wise, building their lives on a solid foundation. I desire to be that wise person who not only hears Your Word but lives by it daily.

Lord, help me to apply Your Word in every area of my life. Give me the grace to walk in obedience and to stand firm in righteousness, no matter the challenges that come my way.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, I take authority over anything that seeks to pull me away from obeying God. Anything that tries to shake my faith or distract me from living in the truth of God’s Word, I rebuke in Jesus’ name.

Father, let Your favour rest upon me as I walk in obedience, in Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

# 5: Favour in Every Area of Life

  • Proverbs 19:12 & Hosea 14:5–6 – “Father, grant me the favour that will cause me to blossom in every area of my life. Let Your grace and favour bring growth and flourishing.” In every area of my life in Jesus’ name, amen.
  • Psalm 90:17 (NIV) – “Father, let Your favour of the Lord rest upon me, and establish the work of my hands and make all my endeavours successful.” In Jesus’ name.
  • Proverbs 14:35 – “Father, teach me to serve wisely in Your kingdom, for the favour of the King is upon the wise servant.

Some examples of Favour in the Book of Matthew

Favour in Every Area of Life

  • Matthew 6:25-34 – Jesus emphasizes not to worry about basic needs, as God’s favour extends to every area of life.
    • Verse 33: “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
      • This verse shows how God’s favour is comprehensive, reaching every area of our lives. When we focus on God’s kingdom, His favour ensures that we receive everything we need, from food and clothing to peace and security.

Favour in Every Area of Life

  • Matthew 10:29-31 – “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
    • God’s favour is revealed over every detail of life. God cares about the smallest aspects of our lives, even numbering the hairs on our heads. His favour encompasses physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, and He values and protects His people.

Prayer of Gratitude for Divine Favour in Every Area of Life

Heavenly Father, if one single sparrow does not fall to the ground without Your notice, then how much more highly valued I am in Your eyes.

Lord, thank You for Your meticulous attention to all aspects of my life—my physical health, emotional well-being, spiritual growth, and general well-being. Your favour encompasses and protects me in ways I am often not even aware of. You provide, you heal, and you guard my path with such precision and love. Thank You, Father.

Thank You, Father, for Your care and for the peace that comes from knowing You are in control. Help me to always remember my worth in Your eyes, to live without fear, and to trust in Your divine provision and protection.

I praise You, Lord, for You are good, and Your mercy endures forever. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

# 6: Overcoming Opposition and Walking in Victory

  • Exodus 3:21 – “Father, thank You for favour that forbids me from being empty-handed. I declare that favour is at work in my life, and I will not leave this season empty.”
  • Acts 16:16–17 – “In the name of Jesus, I come against any interference or opposition that is hindering my progress. Every voice of resistance is silenced, and I declare victory in all areas of my life.”
  • Psalm 106:4–5 – “O Lord, remember me with the favour You have towards Your people. Let me see the benefits of being chosen by You.”

Some examples of Favour in the Book of Matthew

Overcoming Opposition and Walking in Victory

  • Matthew 6:13 – “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”
    • In the Lord’s Prayer,
    • Jesus teaches us to ask for deliverance from temptation and the evil one. God’s favour is evident in His protection from spiritual opposition, ensuring we walk in victory over sin and the schemes

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I acknowledge Your power and sovereignty over my life. I thank You for Your love and mercy that surrounds me and , my family daily. Lord, I ask for Your divine favour to rest upon me and my family. In every area where we face opposition, let Your favour speak for us.

According to Your Word, in Matthew 6:13, I ask for Your protection from every scheme and trap of the enemy. Shield us from every form of temptation that may seek to distract or hinder our progress. By Your mighty hand, deliver us from all evil.

Father, I declare that through Your favour, we shall walk in victory. Where there is resistance, let doors of breakthrough open. Where there is opposition, let Your divine favour turn things around for our good. Surround us with Your favour like a shield so that no weapon formed against us shall prosper.

Let every step we take be guided by Your Spirit and lead us into triumph. May Your favour speak for us in places where our voices cannot. Grant us the strength to overcome every challenge, and may we stand victorious in every battle because You are with us.

I thank You, Lord, for Your favour that goes before us, making the crooked paths straight and turning every opposition into an opportunity for growth and testimony. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen.

Overcoming Opposition and Walking in Victory

  • Matthew 8:26-27 – “He replied, ‘You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’ Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, ‘What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey Him!'”
    • Jesus’ authority over nature is a powerful demonstration of walking in victory and overcoming opposition. The storm, which threatened the lives of the disciples, was silenced by Jesus’ command. God is willing and able to give us victory over every opposition that comes against us and affects our peace and well-being.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I come before You in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge Your greatness and power. I thank You for Your divine favour that surrounds me like a shield, and for Your love that never fails.

Lord, just as You calmed the storm in Matthew 8, –  You rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm, I ask for Your divine favour to calm every storm in my life today. (Mention them if any). Where opposition and resistance arise, speak peace and bring a supernatural calm. In the name of Jesus. In every situation where I feel overwhelmed, remind me that with just a word from You, all chaos will cease, and victory is secured.

Father, grant me the favour to rise above every opposition. Where the storms of life seek to drown me, may Your favour lift me up and place me on solid ground. Just as the disciples marvelled at Your power, let those around me see Your mighty hand at work in my life. O Lord, turn every challenge into a testimony of Your goodness. In the name of Jesus.

Lord, I trust You to guide me through every difficulty, I know that You have already overcome on my behalf. Empower me to walk in victory and confidence, assured that nothing is too difficult for You. I declare that through Your divine favour, I will walk in peace, and no opposition will stand in the way of the purpose You have for me.

Thank You, Father, for calming every storm and leading me into victory. I trust You completely because Your favour is upon me. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen.

Conclusion and Thanksgiving

As we come to the conclusion of this week’s focus on Divine Favour, we reflect on the three powerful subtopics that have guided our prayers:

  1. Favour Through Obedience and Righteousness – God’s favour is released when we walk in obedience and live righteously.

  2. Favour in Every Area of Life – God’s favour is not limited to a single part of our lives but extends to every detail, from our spiritual well-being to our daily needs.

  3. Overcoming Opposition and Walking in Victory – We declare that God’s favour causes us to overcome every obstacle. No opposition can stand against us when God’s hand is upon us. His favour brings us peace in the midst of storms and victory in the face of every challenge.
Let us walk confidently, knowing that with God’s favour, we are always on the path to triumph.

Thanksgiving

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your abundant favour upon our lives. Thank You for positioning us to walk in obedience and righteousness and for the grace to seek Your will in all that we do. We are grateful that Your favour extends to every area of our lives, that we lack nothing and are always under Your divine care.

Thank You, Lord, for the victory that comes through Your favour. In every opposition, You have been our strength and shield, turning every challenge into a testimony of Your goodness. We praise You for the peace and confidence that Your favour brings us daily. In Jesus name, amen.

Charge

As we go forth, I charge you to continue walking in the light of God’s favour. Stay obedient to His Word, live righteously, and trust Him in every area of your life. Do not be afraid of the storms or opposition you may face, for God’s favour is upon you, and through it, you will walk in victory.
