- “I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth More than my necessary food.” (Job 23:12, NKJV)
- Father, create in me an insatiable hunger for Your Word, that I may desire it more than my daily bread.
- Lord, help me to treasure Your commandments and find joy in Your Word
- Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, ignite a passion within me to diligently study and meditate on the scriptures.
- Desire His Presence (Psalm 84:1-2):
“How lovely is Your tabernacle, O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, yes, even faints For the courts of the Lord; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.” (Psalm 84:1-2, NKJV)
- Father, let my desire for Your presence be my most dominant desire, let it overshadow and eclipse every other desire and appetite in Jesus’ name.
2. Discernment and Wisdom
As we grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, it is essential to seek discernment and wisdom. This will enable us to avoid errors in judgment. Discernment helps us to distinguish truth from falsehood, while wisdom allows us to apply God’s knowledge rightly. By relying on God’s Word and the Holy Spirit, we can make sound decisions that honour Him and lead to genuine spiritual growth.
- Avoid the Error of Judgment (Ephesians 4:14, John 8:32):
- “That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting.” (Ephesians 4:14, NKJV)
- “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32, NKJV)
- Father, expose every false doctrine, and traditions that I have believed in and is affecting my spiritual growth. May I not be swayed by false doctrines that will lead me into errors of judgment. In Jesus’ name.
- Father, as I read Your Word cause me to know the truth and let Your truth set me free from deception. In Jesus’ name, amen.
- Take Authority Over Limitations to Growth:
- Every limitation the enemy has placed upon my life for spiritual growth, let that limit be broken in Jesus’ name.
- In my drive for spiritual growth, I refuse to be limited by the enemy. Lord, empower me to overcome all obstacles.
- Know God and Doing Great Exploits (Daniel 11:32):
- “But the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” (Daniel 11:32, NKJV)
- Father, I want to know You, Lord, help me to know You deeply so that I may be strong and do great exploits in Jesus’ name.
- Expose Philosophies of Men Contrary to Spiritual Growth (Colossians 2:8):
- “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” (Colossians 2:8, NKJV)
- Father, expose and remove any philosophy or teaching in my life that is contrary to genuine spiritual growth.
- Choose Associations Correctly (1 Corinthians 15:10, 1 Corinthians 15:33):
- “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” (1 Corinthians 15:10, NKJV)
- “Do not be deceived: ‘Evil company corrupts good habits.'” (1 Corinthians 15:33, NKJV)
- Lord, guide me to choose my associations wisely. Guide me to choose associations that will contribute positively to my spiritual growth.
- Father, protect me from the influence of evil company and help me to cultivate relationships that honour You.
- Expose the wrong associations in my life and grant me the grace to let go of them.
- Close The Doors to Wrong Counsel (Psalm 1:1-3):
- “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” (Psalm 1:1-3, NKJV)
- Father, I ask for the grace to close doors to the wrong counsel. I reject every wrong counsel I choose to delight in Your Word day and night. If I have already acted on the wrong counsel, Father grant me the grace to retrace my steps. Give me the grace not to follow the examples of sinners and not to backslide.
- Father, let me be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, bringing forth fruit in its season and prospering in all I do.
3. Introduction to Grace and Growth
As we strive to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, we must seek His grace for our spiritual growth. - “I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.” (John 17:4, NKJV)
- “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7, NKJV)
- Lord, give me the strength and determination to finish the race You have set before me.
- Father, help me to keep the faith and complete the work You have assigned to me.
- Growth to Trust God Completely Without Complaining (Deuteronomy 1:9-12):
- “And I spoke to you at that time, saying: ‘I alone am not able to bear you. The Lord your God has multiplied you, and here you are today, as the stars of heaven in multitude. May the Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times more numerous than you are, and bless you as He has promised you! How can I alone bear your problems and your burdens and your complaints?'” (Deuteronomy 1:9-12, NKJV)
- Father, help me grow in my trust in You, so I may rely on You completely without complaining.
- Lord, teach me to cast all my burdens on You and find peace in Your promises.
- Enable Me to Do the Unusual (Psalm 42:7):
- “Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me.” (Psalm 42:7, NKJV)
- Lord, enable me to do the unusual and accomplish extraordinary things for Your glory.
- Father, let the depth of Your Spirit call unto the depth of my spirit, empowering me to achieve great exploits.
- Strong in Spirit (Ephesians 3:16):
- “That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man.” (Ephesians 3:16, NKJV)
