Authority Over Spiritual Realms – The Broken Crumbs

By Pastor Juliana T Akinbami

Matthew 15: 21 Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.”23 But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.”24 But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”25 Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”26 But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”27 And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

 The Crumbs of Faith

Despite facing numerous obstacles, the Canaanite woman demonstrated unwavering faith in Jesus’ power to heal.

When the Canaanite woman approached Jesus, she faced rejection and discouragement. Yet, her response to Jesus’ initial silence and the disciples’ urging to send her away was a display of remarkable persistence. She acknowledged her unworthiness but believed in the power of Jesus to heal her daughter. Jesus commended her faith, saying, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted” (Matthew 15:28).

This story emphasizes the significance of having even a tiny amount of faith in God’s power. Just as a small crumb can satisfy hunger, even the smallest bit of faith can move mountains and bring about healing and transformation in our lives. It’s not about the size of our faith but the object of our faith—Jesus Christ. Remember, Jesus told us that faith as small as a mustard seed could move mountains (Matthew 17:20). It’s not necessarily the quantity of our faith that matters, but rather the quality and sincerity of that faith.

As we face challenges in our lives, we must remember that our faith, no matter how small, is powerful when placed in God’s hands.

Our prayers should focus on asking God to increase our faith, especially in difficult times. We should trust that even the tiniest bit of faith can have a great impact, that would lead to healing, hope, and transformation.

Let us come before God in prayer, asking Him to strengthen our faith. Let’s trust that He hears our cries and responds to our needs. May our faith, no matter how small, be a testament to His power and glory that will bring healing and transformation into our lives and the lives of those around us.

Prayer

– Heavenly Father,
– Deepen my understanding and trust in You, even when all I have seems like mere crumbs.
– Increase my faith, especially when I face challenges that make me feel overwhelmed.
– May my faith blossom, and transform my small seeds of belief into robust, unshakeable trust.
– Grant me the bravery to act on my faith, to be bold in my prayers and my walk with You, because I trust that You are at work even in my smallest acts of faith.
– Solidify my faith in Your word and in Who You Are. Help me to believe without needing to see and to trust without faltering.
In Jesus name, I pray, amen.

May your “crumbs of faith” gather, and build a strong foundation that can endure any storm, empowered by the Holy Spirit and anchored in the reality of Christ’s love and strength.

The Crumbs of Persistence

The story of the Canaanite woman is not just about faith; it is also a powerful lesson in persistence. When we read about her encounter with Jesus, we see a woman who, despite facing rejection and discouragement, did not give up. Her persistence in seeking healing for her daughter teaches us the importance of being steadfast in our prayers, especially when seeking healing—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual.

In Matthew 15:21-28, the Canaanite woman approaches Jesus with a desperate plea for her daughter’s healing. Initially, Jesus does not respond, and the disciples urge Him to send her away. Yet, she does not relent. She continues to plead with Jesus, thereby demonstrating a dogged determination and unwavering hope. Her persistence pays off as Jesus acknowledges her great faith and grants her request, which leads to her daughter’s healing.

Persistence in prayer is so crucial. Just as the Canaanite woman continued to ask, seek, and knock, we must also remain steadfast in our prayers. Persistence means not giving up, even when answers seem delayed or when we face discouragement. It is through persistent prayer that we show our trust in God’s timing and His plan for our lives.

When we seek healing, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual, our persistence in prayer will lead to divine intervention. God hears our cries and honours our steadfastness. We may not always understand His timing or His ways, but we can trust that He is working for our good.
In your prayer life, ask God to help you remain steadfast. Pray for the strength to continue seeking, asking, and knocking, even when the journey is challenging. Trust that your persistence will lead to divine intervention and that God, in His infinite wisdom, will provide the healing and transformation you seek.

Prayer Focus

(Where do you need persistence? Pray for the grace to be persistent)

– Lord, grant me the courage to persist in my prayers, not to lose heart or grow weary.
– Help me to continue in prayer with confidence, knowing that You hear every word.
– Father, instill in me the patience to wait for Your timing. Teach me to trust in Your perfect plan for my life, even when the wait seems endless.
– Remind me of Your past faithfulness as I wait for the answers I seek.
– Father, provide me strength when I feel discouraged or when my faith wanes. Help me to cling to You and Your promises.
– Rejuvenate my spirit to continue fighting the good fight of faith, especially when the outcome isn’t immediately visible.
– Lord, open my eyes to see the small blessings, the crumbs, that come my way each day as signs of Your presence and love.
– Help me to appreciate these small victories as part of the larger answer to my prayers.
– I ask for healing and breakthroughs in the areas I’ve been persistently praying about, Lord, bring restoration and peace.
In Jesus name, I pray, amen.

May your persistence in prayer lead to miraculous interventions just as it did for the Canaanite woman.

The Crumbs of Grace

The story of the Canaanite woman is a beautiful illustration of God’s grace working in unexpected and seemingly small ways. When she sought healing for her daughter, she was willing to accept even the “crumbs” from Jesus’ table, recognizing that even the smallest touch of His grace was powerful enough to bring about transformation. God’s grace often manifests in our lives in ways that might seem small or insignificant but are truly mighty and life-changing.

In Matthew 15:27-28, we see the woman’s acknowledgment of the power in even the smallest expressions of God’s grace: “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Jesus’ response to her great faith was to grant her request (v28) to heal her daughter and showcase the incredible impact of His grace, even in what seemed like a small gesture.

We are reminded that God’s grace is abundant and ever-present, often showing up in every day “crumbs” we might overlook. These crumbs of grace can be found in simple acts of kindness, moments of peace, unexpected blessings, and the quiet assurance of God’s presence. Recognizing and appreciating these small manifestations of grace can greatly impact our faith and our lives.

In your daily walk, seek out the crumbs of grace that God places before you. Embrace these moments with gratitude, knowing that God’s grace is always at work, often in ways we might not immediately see. Let these crumbs of grace nourish your faith and draw you closer to the loving heart of God, who delights in blessing His children, even through the smallest acts of His kindness.

Prayer Focus

(As you pray, be specific about the areas you need the grace of God and ask for His grace in those areas)

– Heavenly Father, help me to be aware of Your grace in all aspects of my life.
– Grant me a heart that recognizes and cherishes each instance of Your grace, no matter how small it may seem.
– Lord, cultivate in me a spirit of gratitude for every grace You bestow upon me. Let me never take Your grace for granted, but always give thanks with a joyful heart.
– Help me to express my thankfulness not just in words but through my actions and attitudes toward others.
– Teach me to depend more fully on Your grace every day. Remind me that without Your grace, I can do nothing, and with it, nothing is impossible.
– In moments of self-sufficiency or pride, gently guide me back to the path of grace-based living.
– Inspire me to be a distributor of Your grace, sharing the love and mercy I receive from You with others.
– May my life reflect Your grace so vividly that others are drawn to You through my example.
– In times of trial and challenge, remind me that Your grace is sufficient for me. Your power is made perfect in my weakness.
– May I lean on Your grace and find it to be more than enough to sustain me through any difficulty.

In Jesus’ name, I pray amen.

The Crumbs of Healing

In Matthew 15:27-28, the Canaanite woman expressed her belief in the sufficiency of even the smallest act of Jesus’ grace: “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Her faith was rewarded as Jesus acknowledged her great faith and granted her request, leading to her daughter’s immediate healing. This miraculous event shows that the healing power of Jesus is not limited by the size of the act but is inherent in His very nature.

These crumbs of healing symbolize the smallest touches of Jesus that can lead to complete restoration. We often seek grand gestures and significant miracles in our lives, but the story of the Canaanite woman reminds us that even the smallest interaction with Jesus can have a profound impact. His healing power is so vast and potent that even a crumb can bring about the change we so desperately need.

When we pray for healing, whether for ourselves or for loved ones, we can invoke this same power. Our intercessory prayers can focus on asking God to touch those in need of healing without fearing that our faith is not big enough.  We can trust that His power to heal is as present and potent today as it was when He healed the Canaanite woman’s daughter.

I find the idea of crumbs of healing so powerful because sometimes we don’t get the complete healing at once, but we see progress. do not be discouraged. Those crumbs will add up to the full loaf.

Let us embrace the truth that the crumbs of healing from Jesus are powerful and transformative. May our prayers reflect this faith, and may we witness the miraculous healing that flows from even the smallest touch of our Saviour’s grace.

Prayer Focus

Heavenly Father, I ask that You
– Instill in me a steadfast belief that no request is too small, and no condition is beyond repair.
– Open my eyes to recognize the healing work You are doing in my life every day, whether it appears monumental or minimal.
– Help me to acknowledge and celebrate every sign of recovery and restoration as a testimony of Your loving intervention.
– Teach me patience as I await Your healing. Help me to persevere in prayer and not lose heart when the process is prolonged.
– Remind me that healing can be a journey, and at each step, Your grace is sufficient to sustain and restore me.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
– I lift up those who are suffering—physically, emotionally, or spiritually. (mention names) Lord, if faith in crumbs of power could heal the Canaanite woman’s daughter, I believe in Your power to heal and restore because all power in heaven and on earth has been given to You.
– Bring comfort and healing to those who are battling illness, depression, or despair. Let them experience Your healing power as a tangible reality.

Each crumb of healing is a seed of God’s mighty power at work in our lives. May we continue to seek and appreciate these crumbs, trusting that God is at work in even the smallest details. With hearts full of faith and lips quick to testify to God’s goodness, let us spread the news of His healing power, just as the Canaanite woman’s faith has spoken through the ages.

The Crumbs of Hope

The story of the Canaanite woman is not just a lesson in faith, persistence, grace, and healing; it is also a powerful testament to hope. When all seemed lost for her and her daughter, she clung to the hope that even the smallest interaction with Jesus could bring about a miracle. This story teaches us that no matter how desperate our situation may be, even a tiny bit of hope in Christ can lead to miraculous changes.

In Matthew 15:22-28, the Canaanite woman came to Jesus in a state of utter desperation. She had no reason to believe that Jesus would help her, a Gentile woman. Yet, she held on to the hope that Jesus could heal her daughter. Somehow, she tapped into His divine attributes of mercy and compassion. Her hope was not in vain, as Jesus acknowledged her faith and granted her request, healing her daughter and transforming their lives.

These crumbs of hope represent the smallest bits of trust and expectation we place in Jesus, especially when we feel overwhelmed by despair. In our darkest moments, even a glimmer of hope in Jesus can ignite the possibility of transformation and renewal. Hope in Christ is powerful because it is rooted in His unchanging love and faithfulness.

May we all hold on to the crumbs of hope that Jesus offers, knowing that they are more than enough to sustain us and bring about transformation. Let our prayers be filled with encouragement, uplifting those who feel lost, and pointing them to the hope that is always found in Christ.

Prayer Focus

– Heavenly Father, renew my hope in Your promises. For without hope, it is impossible to please God. When the world around me seems bleak, let me find those crumbs of hope that remind me of Your faithfulness.
– Help me to hold onto hope in every situation, and to trust that You are working things out for my good.
– Lord, give me strength when I am overwhelmed by despair. Lift my spirits and bring me comfort through Your Holy Spirit.
– Guide me to find solace in Your Word, which offers hope like rain in a dry land.
– Father, show me tangible signs of hope that affirm Your active presence in my life. Let these signs be a beacon to me when I am losing heart, drawing me back to Your embrace.
– Inspire me to be a messenger of hope to others. Use my words and actions to deliver crumbs of hope to those in need.
– Help me to support and uplift those around me, and to share testimonies of Your faithfulness that ignite hope in others.
– Grant me the endurance and resilience to continue in hope. Teach me to wait on You without losing faith and to embrace hope as an anchor for my soul.
– Fortify my heart to withstand the storms of life, as I hold onto the promise of Your unchanging love and power.
In Jesus’ name, amen.

Closing
As we close, let us embrace each crumb of hope as a gift from God, a reminder of His ever-present help in our times of need. May these small but mighty tokens of His love and mercy fill us with renewed energy and perspective, empowering us to face the future with confidence. Let us spread this hope to others and share the light of Christ in a world that desperately needs His touch. Remember, to be persistent in building a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Next week, we conclude this topic; get ready because it is warfare.

Matthew 15:22 A Gentile woman who lived there came to him, pleading, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! For my daughter is possessed by a demon that torments her severely.”

She said “my daughter is possessed by a demon that torments her severely” – All these prayers have led us to this point. That devil must go, even the legal captive shall be delivered. Don’t miss this session.
