Armour of God 1

By Pastor Juliana T Akinbami

One day I wrote in my notes, “I will not be a victim of someone else’s repentance.” Simply put, I will not expose myself or my family to the enemy’s wiles only for someone to come back to say, “I am sorry,” God forbid.

The watchman must be alert and must pay attention. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God. Our warfare is not with flesh and Blood but with principalities and powers.

How do we engage in the battle without the appropriate gear? When Joshua was to start his journey of leading the children of Israel, God told him to be strong and courageous. Apostle Paul, having fought wild beasts at Ephesus, has this to say about us. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God so that you can stand on the evil day.

The amour is a defensive weapon. We have receive instructions to clothe ourselves appropriately for battle.

I invite you to – PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD.

 1. STRONG IN THE LORD

Ephesians 6: 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. We are at war, not because we want to fight but because we have a relentless adversary. Satan resists the children of God. He hates us because we are God’s children and has human agents who he uses to accomplish his wicked acts. Therefore, we cannot live without protection. What is your protection? Paul, who fought many battles and said he fought beasts at Ephesus (1 Corinthians 15:32), gave us a command “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” The devil has tricks, wiles, methods, and strategies to combat the children of God. We cannot battle him without the power of God.

This year and beyond, we must partner with God and allow His power to manifest in every area of our lives, particularly our prayer life. Joshua had to lead the children of Israel to possess the promised land. God had given it to them, but they still had to fight to possess their inheritance. God commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous. In the same vein, Paul says, “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”

Paul reminds us that the battle is not with flesh and Blood but with invisible forces in a hierarchy – principalities, powers and rulers of darkness. You and I cannot afford to be in slumber. We need the strength of God to fight these invisible forces. Yes, Jesus has defeated Satan and the kingdom of darkness, but it is our responsibility to enforce the victory of Jesus.

2. The whole armour

Ephesians 6: 11-13 Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

The devil has been defeated, but he uses deception to trick people. We need the armour of GOD to stand against the wiles of the devil. When you go to battle, go with the armour of Jehovah. The devil’s sole aim is to steal, kill and destroy. We need weapons to overcome his trickery. When David went to battle, Saul gave him his armour, but David rejected it. David had a more superior armour in the strength of Jehovah 1 Samuel 17:45.

One of the deadliest weapons of the enemy is discouragement and exhaustion. The enemy’s game plan is to keep coming against you and me until he wearies us out. That is why we need the whole armour so that we can stand and remain standing when he comes—at the same time, utilising the weaponry at our disposal.

The Armour of Truth and Righteousness

Ephesians 6: 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with Truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness. Truth must prevail. I read this from an article that the Truth is the greatest weapon of war that the strongest darkness cannot defeat Truth will survive the test of times. The Truth will always prevail. Acts 5: 39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

If it is the Truth, it will prevail. Only the Truth can prevail. The Truth is the Word of God. Jesus is also the Truth and the Word. John 17:17 the Word of God is Truth, let every man be a liar and God alone be true Romans 3:4.

The belt holds every other armour in place.

Look to the Truth of God’s word anything that contradicts the Word is a lie. The Truth is what will keep us sane in difficult times. God’s Word is Truth, for you shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free John 8:32. In this journey of a watchman, let your belt of Truth guard you.

It will keep you unshaken and unwavering.
