Grow In The Grace and Knowledge of Jesus – Spiritual Growth 2

Now we will go into some more specific prayers for growth.

1. THE WORD OF GOD

Hebrews 5:¹³ For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.

Spiritual growth cannot happen without growing in the knowledge of God’s Word. All scripture is given by the inspiration of God (2 Timothy 3:16). It is the living, active voice of God speaking directly to us. Today, we center our prayers on three transformative desires: to let God’s Word dwell in us richly, to treasure His Word more than our daily bread, and to cultivate a relentless passion for reading, studying, and meditating on Scripture. By nurturing these desires, we open ourselves to deeper wisdom and spiritual understanding, essential for our growth, Let us pray that through God’s Word, we are changed, guided, and enriched in every aspect of our lives.

Pray

Rich Indwelling of the Word: Heavenly Father, let Your Word dwell in me richly, saturating every thought and decision. As I meditate on Your Word, infuse my spirit with wisdom and understanding, that I might live in a manner worthy of Your calling.

Treasure Your Word: Lord, instill in me a great reverence for Your Word, that I may treasure it more deeply than my necessary food.
May my heart yearn for Your truth, may Your promises be my sustenance that nourishes my soul day by day.

Hunger for Scripture: Almighty Father, kindle within me an unquenchable desire to read, study, and reflect on Your Word. Create in me a heart that seeks You in the pages of the Bible, eager to learn, grow, and transform under the guidance of Your Holy Spirit.

Looking again at the journey of Moses’s spiritual growth, we see He got bolder and bolder to take actions that were mind-blowing. Our journey with God is active and dynamic, requiring us not only to believe but also to step forward in faith. We are called to move beyond spiritual infancy, (Hebrews 5:13-14), embracing maturity that compels us to act decisively. In this prayer session, let us pray for the boldness to cast aside distractions and childish ways, to combat laziness, and to engage diligently in the practices that foster spiritual depth—such as prayer, studying the Word, and fasting. We seek the grace to discipline our bodies and minds so that we can be empowered to take bold actions that align with God’s will. Let us now ask God to transform our intentions into concrete steps that lead to spiritual fulfillment and growth. 

 

Prayer for Boldness and Spiritual Maturity

 

1 Corinthians 13:11 ¹¹ When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Lord, grant me the boldness to pursue spiritual maturity intentionally. Help me to step away from spiritual infancy and take decisive actions that reflect a mature believer, and to leave behind childish. In Jesus’ name.

Father, empower me to put away all distractions that hinder my spiritual growth. Guide me to focus on actions that bring me closer to You, so that I may live boldly for Your kingdom.

  Overcoming Laziness

1 Corinthians 9: ²⁷ But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

Almighty God, I ask for Your grace to pull down the spirit of laziness that affects my spiritual development. I ask and receive that grace to be disciplined in prayer, diligent in studying Your Word, and committed to seeking Your presence through fasting and other spiritual disciplines, in Jesus’ name.

Father, I ask for the strength to discipline my body and mind. Let me do what is necessary for my spiritual growth so that Your divine purposes will be accomplished in and through me.

 Grace for Spiritual Battles

Deuteronomy 2: ²⁴ “ ‘Rise, take your journey, and cross over the River Arnon. Look, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. Begin ^[a]to possess it, and engage him in battle.

Heavenly Father,
I declare warfare against every demonic entity and spiritual hindrance that seeks to prevent my growth in You. I rebuke and bind every spirit that tries to stifle my faith, cloud my vision, or derail my spiritual journey. Your Word says that no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and I claim this promise now.

I command every obstacle in my path to be removed in Jesus’ name. Every stronghold of doubt, fear, and confusion, I pull you down by the authority of Christ. I release the fire of the Holy Spirit to burn away all chaff, to cleanse and purify my spiritual environment.

Father, fortify me with Your armour—the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your Word. Let me stand firm, rooted in Your strength, not my own.

I pray for the discernment to recognize the enemy’s tactics and the wisdom to counter them with Your truth. Increase my sensitivity to Your Spirit, that I might pray without ceasing and remain vigilant in this spiritual warfare.

God, fill me with a boldness that comes from Your Spirit, to declare victory over the enemy and to walk confidently in the freedom and power You have given me. I thank You that You go before me and fight my battles. The victory is Yours, and I am more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me.

3. Capacity and High Levels of Strength

Psalm 84:10-12

¹⁰ For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
¹¹ For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.
¹² O Lord of hosts,
Blessed is the man who trusts in You!

Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved. 

As we continue our journey of spiritual growth, we now turn our focus towards Capacity and increased levels of strength.  Through prayer, we seek to enhance our strength, wisdom, and authority as believers. We ask for the ability to do the unusual, to see beyond the ordinary, and to be strengthened in spirit. Let us pray for God to enlarge our vision and fortify our inner beings, allowing us to perceive and engage with His divine plans for our lives. Join me as we call upon God to open our eyes and deepen our spiritual capacity, enabling us to walk in greater dimensions of His grace and power.

 

Expanding Capacity for Greater Service

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today with a heart full of gratitude and a desire for growth. Your Word in Psalm 84:11 assures me that You are a sun and shield, bestowing favour and honour. No good thing will You withhold from those who walk uprightly. I stand on this promise, seeking Your presence and Your power in my life.
Lord, I ask that You expand my spiritual capacity. Grant me access to higher levels of strength, wisdom, and authority. I desire to serve You more effectively, to walk in Your ways more faithfully, and to glorify Your name in all that I do. Fill me with Your presence, Lord, and enlarge my heart to love You more deeply.
Father, I trust in Your goodness and Your faithfulness. I know that You desire to give good gifts to Your children, and I believe that You will not withhold any good thing from me as I seek to walk uprightly before You. Strengthen my spirit, renew my mind, and empower my actions. Let Your favour and honour be evident in my life.
In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray.

Empowerment for the Unusual

42: ⁷ Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls;
All Your waves and billows have gone over me.

Heavenly Father,
I long for more of Your presence and power in my life. Your Word in Psalm 42:7 says, ” Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me..” Lord, I hear Your call to deeper waters, to greater heights, and to the extraordinary things that only You can enable.

Father, I ask that You enable me to do the unusual. Let Your deep call unto my deep, drawing me into a closer and deeper relationship with You. As Your waves and breakers sweep over me, fill me with Your strength and courage to step into new realms of possibilities.

Lord, I desire to accomplish great things for Your kingdom, things beyond my natural ability, and understanding. Empower me by Your Holy Spirit to do the extraordinary, to achieve the impossible, and to bring glory to Your name through my actions. Let Your power flow through me, enabling me to be a vessel of Your miracles and wonders.

Thank You, Father, for the privilege of partnering with You in Your work. I am ready and willing to do the unusual, to step into deeper waters, and to see Your glory revealed in miraculous ways.

Strengthened in Spirit

Pray

Heavenly Father,

I ask for Your strength in my life. I acknowledge that true strength comes from You alone, and I desire to be empowered by Your Holy Spirit.

Father, help me to grow and become strong in spirit. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, that I may stand firm in my faith and fulfill the purpose You have for my life. Strengthen me in my inner being, so that I may be resilient in the face of challenges and steadfast in my walk with You.

Father, Your Word in Proverbs 20:29 says, “The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendour of the old.” Lord, I ask that You grant me the strength that glorifies You. Whether in youth or in age, let my strength be a testament to Your power and grace. May I honour You with the vigour of my youth and the wisdom that comes with age. Help me to use the strength You provide to serve according to Your will.

Lord, I pray Ephesians 3:16 over my life: ” Father, I ask that You strengthen me with Your divine power through Your Spirit. Let Your glorious riches fill my inner being, give me the strength to overcome any obstacle, face any trial, and pursue the calling You have placed on my life.

Thank You, Lord, for being my source of strength. I trust in Your unfailing love and power, knowing that with You, I can do all things. Strengthen me today and every day, that I may bring glory to Your name in all that I do.

4. Spiritual Insight and Clarity

Psalm 13: ³ Consider and hear me, O Lord my God;
Enlighten my eyes,
Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
⁴ Lest my enemy say,
“I have prevailed against him”;
Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

PRAY

Heavenly Father,
I come before You with a humble heart, seeking Your wisdom and understanding. Your Word in Psalm 13:3 says, ” Consider and hear me, O Lord my God;
Enlighten my eyes,
Lest I sleep the sleep of death;

Father, I ask that You open my eyes to see what is going on in my life right now. Give light to my eyes, Lord, so that I may see clearly and understand the circumstances around me. Reveal to me the things that are hidden, the challenges I may not fully recognize, and the opportunities You have placed before me.

Lord, I desire to walk in Your wisdom and discernment. Help me to see beyond the surface and perceive the deeper truths that You want to reveal. Shine Your light on any areas of confusion or darkness in my life, and bring clarity where there is uncertainty.
V 4 says, “Lest my enemy say,
“I have prevailed against him”;
Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved”.

Father, protect me from being overcome by my enemies, both seen and unseen. Equip me with the insight and understanding I need to navigate the complexities of my life. Let Your truth guide me, and Your presence be my comfort and strength.

Lord, I trust in Your goodness and Your desire to lead me in paths of righteousness. As I seek Your face, open my eyes to Your will and Your ways. Help me to recognize Your hand at work in my life and to respond with faith and obedience.

Thank You, Father, for Your unfailing love and Your faithfulness. I believe that You will give light to my eyes and guide me in all my ways.
